Heating
1. Boiler controls saving up to 40%
Upgrading heating controls to provide heat where and when it is needed can significantly reduce fuel consumption while maintaining comfort levels. E.g. installing a boiler energy management system can save up to 30% for domestic and 40% for commercial buildings.
Examples of heating controls range from basic room thermostats and TRV's (thermostatic radiator valves) to all encompassing and complex temperature compensating controls. This provides heat where and when it is needed. Depending on the existing system savings of up to 30% can be easily achieved for domestic and 40% for commercial.
2. Boilers
Replace your existing boiler with a 98% efficiency boiler.
3. Controls
Use Motorised valves in conjunction with programmers’ and thermostats to maximise the BER rating.
Lighting
The correct lighting must be chosen. Low Energy (LE) lighting can dramatically decrease CO2 emissions and the yearly electricity bill.
U-Value Calculations
The u-value is assessed for the walls, doors, windows, roof, and floor. Over insulation will cost too much on initial outlay and under insulating will cost a lot through heat loss of the building year after year. The optimum u-value needs to be calculated for each dwelling. All new dwellings must conform to the new Building regulations.
Drafts & Thermal Bridging
A blow door test can increase the rating of your dwelling. BERcerts.ie can also provide this service.
Systems are also available to reduce drafts within the home at an affordable price.
Chimney closure
Close your chimney and save up to 70% per room!
