Building Energy Rating (BER) Certificate

A Building Energy Rating (BER) assesses the energy performance of a building on a scale ranging from A to G. In other words, it is just like the energy rating for any household electrical appliance.

BER cert full rating

A Building Energy Rating (BER) certificate can ONLY be obtained by an SEAI approved Building Energy Rating (BER) assessor.

Who needs a Building Energy Rating (BER) certificate?

New dwellings: The regulations apply to new dwellings for which planning permission was applied for on or after 1st January 2007. Transitional Building Energy Rating (BER) exemptions will apply to new dwellings for which planning permission is applied on or before 31st December 2006, where the new dwellings involved are substantially completed on or before 30th June 2008.

New Non-Domestic Buildings: The regulations apply to new non-domestic buildings for which planning permission was applied for on or after 1st July 2008. Transitional Building Energy Rating (BER) exemptions will apply to new non-domestic buildings for which planning permission is applied on or before 30th June 2008 provided the new non-domestic buildings involved are substantially completed by 30th June 2010.

Existing Buildings (dwellings and other buildings) when offered for sale or letting on or after 1st January 2009.

How a Building Energy Rating (BER) certificate can affect the value of your home?

Just like for domestic appliances, the higher the rating, the higher the value. But also, a higher the Building Energy Rating (BER) implies higher electricity and gas savings. In other words, a dwelling with higher Building Energy Rating (BER) is more likely to attract attention and potential buyers, if this is the case.

Energy saving and carbon footprint.

The cost of the Building Energy Rating (BER) and improvements can dramatically reduce the running costs of your building, e.g. electricity, gas and oil. The savings may be far higher than the cost of the Building Energy Rating (BER) certification itself!

Along with the savings on your pocket, your carbon footprint is also reduced; and reducing the carbon footprint means a better environment for us and the generations to come.

How do I obtain a Building Energy Rating (BER) certificate?

Simply call or email us and a member of our team will be glad to assist you.

Having been approved and certified by the SEAI, a member of our team can carry out an assessment of your building and provide you with an energy certification.
